A Goodbye Note to Criteo
This was originally sent as a goodbye email. I've posted it again here, for posterity.
“In his voice was a note that said home, almost.”
Excerpt From: Robert Jordan. “The Wheel of Time.”
Dear Criteo,
Before you, I'd never lived further than 100 miles from where I was born. I didn't have a passport. I couldn't tell you what 20º Celsius felt like. I didn’t know what time of day it felt right to switch to "Bonsoir". I had no idea foosball could be taken so seriously. Formative years are rarely spent with such fine company, let alone at such a fine company.
To anyone that has shared their culture, passion, elation, frustration, joy, pain, time, smile or drink with me: Thank you.
You've played a part in shaping who I am today, both as a developer and as a person. Not a week went by where I didn't learn about another culture, and I've become more of a global citizen day after day. From the melting pot known as the Palo Alto office, the voyagers to Paris, to the Global Summits, Criteo has been a family. It's been a privilege to be one of the few Americans among the dev team.
To my mentors: Thanks for your guidance, and for your patience. Thank you for teaching me, for guiding me to teach myself, and for encouraging me to take initiative.
Criteo is more than the physical offices, it is the people that generate new knowledge and spark ideas. *We* are Criteo. I've made life-long friends by working here. Through many offices, teams, and product changes, this place has felt like home. As I look at the prospect of leaving, I know that I won't be the same, but neither will Criteo. The company changes with every arrival and departure. If there's one piece of wisdom I can leave behind, it's that continuity matters. The spirit of this company only persists through active pursuit by you.
I will miss the office, but I'll mostly miss my fellow Criteos.
